2025 Loftness Battle Ax® – 50 Series 51BX50

The 50 Series Battle Ax is built for use in some of the toughest applications. And it’s designed for use on some of the most powerful excavators weighing from 50,000 to 88,000 pounds. It features the popular depth gauge design and Loftness® exclusive two-stage cutting chamber. This maximizes performance and gives you the ability to create some of the smallest particle sizes in the industry. Plus, we’ve equipped it with the ideal hydraulic motor, belt drive and other features to pair well with your power unit. Of course, it’s all backed by Loftness’ superior customer support and large dealer network.

The Battle Ax comes standard with a 2-year warranty. Simply purchase an 50 Series, and you’ll be automatically enrolled in a warranty that’s twice as long as most others are willing to offer.

Our exclusive two-stage cutting chamber provides the ability to cut material twice, which is why Loftness machines are known to process material more thoroughly than competitive units. Material is first cut against the primary shear bar, which is adjustable, so the clearance can be narrowed or widened depending upon the desired material size and production rate. From there, the partially reduced material passes smoothly to the secondary cutting chamber behind the front bumper, where it’s processed further before being discharged toward the ground.

The 50 Series Battle Ax features a 165cc adjustable displacement piston motor for excavators with hydraulic systems ranging from 35 to 105 gallons per minute and up to 6,000 PSI (100 to 350 hydraulic horsepower). This motor turns the rotor from 1,700 to 1,900 RPM and can be manually adjusted for fine-tuning performance on a variety of excavators.

It doesn’t get any easier to reverse or replace teeth. All you need to do is remove one hex bolt.

A specialized staggered/spiral tooth pattern ensures single-tooth contact with the work surface at all times while maintaining optimal rotor balance.

Nobody likes removing vines or other debris that’s wrapped around the rotor bearings. Our specialized anti-wrap rings keep this to a minimum.

Features may include:

• The Battle Ax rotor design uses built-in depth gauges to control cutting depth, like raker teeth on a chainsaw.

• Two shear bars allow the Battle Ax to produce a finer mulch with fewer passes. The primary shear bar is adjustable for controlling particle sizes.

• The cutting teeth are mounted to the rotor with a single bolt. They can be easily reversed, replaced or removed on the jobsite using a common hex socket.

• The triple carbide teeth are engineered specifically for the most powerful excavators. They feature an overlapping cap design that helps prevent the tooth mounts from damage if the rotor is driven into rocks.
